RIALA'S
Mission
To represent the interests of the assisted living industry
in Rhode Island, including the residents, families, owners,
developers, administrators, staff, and suppliers of services
and to advocate for the highest level of independence
and quality of life for the residents.
RIALA'S Members
RIALA is a trade association representing the assisted
living industry in Rhode Island. Our membership categories
are Provider, Industry Partner, and Associate.
The Provider Members' residences vary from small to large,
are for-profit and not-for-profit, and house people with
a wide range of age, needs, and preferences. The Provider
Members are showcased with detailed information on the
page titled Find a Residence.
The Industry Partners are suppliers of goods and services
to assisted living residences. They are listed and described
on the page titled Partners and
Members.
Individuals with professional linkages to the industry
join as Associate Members.
RIALA Activities
Government relations between the industry and all branches
of state and federal government is a top priority of RIALA.
We monitor the Rhode Island General Assembly and state
agencies and promote legislation and regulation that enhances
quality of life for our residents and improves business
conditions for our members. RIALA has had an important
role in raising standards for assisted living and for
improving financial assistance for low income residents.
ALFA (Assisted Living Federation of America), our national
organization, represents our members very effectively
in Washington, DC.
RIALA offers the only Administrator Training Program approved
for certification of administrators in Rhode Island. We
also offer a series of comprehensive continuing education
sessions each year for administrators and other professionals.
Public information and referrals to consumers and long-term
care professionals are offered through our website, our
Member Guide, and over the phone. The staff and the office
library are always available as a public or member resource.
RIALA History
RIALA was founded in 1987 by Robert E. Henry. RIALA
had an important part in the development of the enhanced
