All American Assisted Living in Warwick is seeking a Director of Nursing.

Job Title: Health Services Director - Director of Nursing/Resident Care Coordinator Department: Nursing
Reports to: Executive Director
Summary: Coordinates and administers the service plan to meet the health needs of the residents and promote wellness. Supervises and delegates care to RNs, LPNs, LNAs and RCAs within scope of practice.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include but are not limited to:
• Meet every new resident and complete a basic health assessment within one (1) week of their moving into the facility.
• For At risk Residents, coordinate the assistance plan and activate resources through home health. Communicate with the
physician regarding issues that keep the resident at risk.
• Provide or coordinate educational opportunities related to health issues of interest to the Residents.
• Role model geriatric care techniques to staff and educate as needed.
• The DON will assist in the implementation of the self-administered medication management program.
Collaborate with pharmacy to ensure accurate medication management program.
• Assist in completion of required documentation to meet federal and state guidelines.
• Review all emergency calls for assistance by Residents and complete a quality-action review of the treatment and handling
of each emergency by Staff.
• Assist with the development of a service plan for each Resident and ensure follow through and revision as needed.
• Collaborate and maintain routine communications with families and Residents.
• Monitor written staff documentation, including daily documentation sheets, communication book and self-administered
medication sheets for assurance and completeness.
• Participate in meetings to discuss needs and requirements of each Resident and take appropriate action as needed and
directed to promote quality Resident care.
• Supervise staff, including orientation of new staff, assignment of tasks, ongoing instruction and guidance, evaluations.
Assure that Residents physical, emotional and spiritual needs are met. Work is to be of high quality and performed in a
pleasant manner.
Working Behavior: Adhere to and carry out all policies and procedures to include evaluations and in-services. Report on-the-job injuries to the Supervisor before the end of work shift on the day the injury occurs. Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with coworkers, Residents, families and visitors. Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to Residents, facility operations and personnel. Promote facility in a positive way. Promote teamwork in providing services to Residents. Promote customer service. Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Attend mandatory in-services. Maintain education requirements as defined by scope of practice, if applicable.

Knowledge Expectation: OSHA regulations-MSDS Sheets and procedures. Fire and Safety procedures. Local referral resources. Nursing standards of practice for older adults. Resident assessment tool (RAT). Assisted Living state regulations.

Working Conditions: Heated/Air conditioned, well-lit facility with minimal barriers. On call on a rotation schedule.

Qualifications: State issued Nursing license (RN preferred). Experience in working with older adults. Good assessment and communication skills.

Standards: Residents always come first. Their needs will be met unless there is a conflict with the needs of others or the organization. Employees will not work under the influence of mood-altering or illegal drugs or alcohol. Neat, professional appearance. Adherence to the dress code and good personal hygiene are expected. Understands and uses conflict resolution skills.
