The PAC's mission is to educate members of the General Assembly about assisted living communities and to support elected officials who advocate for these communities and healthy aging in Rhode Island. Contributions range from $5 to a maximum of $2,000. Contributions can be made via personal check or via debit or credit card. The RIALA PAC allows individuals to pool resources to support and elect candidates to the RI General Assembly who advocate for senior living causes and align with our policy positions. Who can give to RIALA PAC?RIALA PAC welcomes contributions from RIALA members, their spouses, and all members of our Rhode Island community who are United States citizens. What does RIALA PAC do?The RIALA PAC advances the interests of the assisted living industry and profession within the Rhode Island General Assembly through financial support to elected officials. Contributions from RIALA PAC are directed to campaigns of Rhode Island General Assembly members who align with our mission, support senior living/assisted living causes, and advocate for our policy positions. Is there a limit to how much a person may give to RIALA PAC?A PAC may accept contributions of up to $2,000 per year from each individual. It's important to clarify that this limit applies separately to each spouse, allowing each to donate up to $2,000, regardless of whether only one person in the household has an income. Is my contribution tax-deductible?A contribution to a PAC is not tax-deductible since it is classified as a political contribution, not a charitable donation. Can a person support RIALA PAC with funds from their business?No, RIALA PAC operates as a membership-based PAC and can only accept personal contributions from individuals. Contributions cannot be made from business accounts; for instance, individuals cannot donate to RIALA PAC using a business check or credit card. Contributions must be made from personal accounts, including personal checks and credit cards. Is donating to RIALA PAC once sufficient?RIALA PAC relies solely on the generosity of its contributors. While we appreciate contributions of any size (up to $2,000 per individual per calendar year), the strength and influence of our PAC grow with increased funding, enhancing our impact on the RI General Assembly. RIALA encourages members to contribute what they can, when they can. Developing and maintaining RIALA's contacts, relationships, and allies within the RI General Assembly requires ongoing support—not just one-time campaign contributions. Continuous backing from RIALA builds and strengthens these vital connections. Where does all the money go?Your contribution to RIALA PAC is deposited directly into our PAC account. Quarterly, checks are issued to selected members of the RI General Assembly who serve on relevant committees impacting senior living issues, possess legislative authority, or consistently advocate for senior living and assisted living industry and professions. RIALA operates in a bipartisan manner, therefore RIALA PAC supports candidates from all political parties who uphold the interests of the senior living industry.
