With Med Tech license renewals set to expire at the end of this month, now is the perfect time to enroll in RIALA’s upcoming Med Tech Training.

In collaboration with URI this convenient virtual course will be led by Patrick Kelly, Pharmacy Professor at the University of Rhode Island, and will include four one-hour learning sessions for a total of 4 CEUs per student.

Course Topics

1. How Drugs Work
A review of drug kinetics, dynamics, interactions, and dosage forms, including why specific dosage forms are important in different care situations.

2. Drug Abuse & Diversion
An overview of drug abuse and diversion, including common diversion concerns and best practices within nursing and assisted living settings.

3. The Language of Prescriptions
A discussion of prescription abbreviations, written and oral communication, calculations, and best practices to prevent errors and miscommunication.

4. Regulatory Refresh
A general review of how drugs are regulated in the United States, Med Tech scope of practice, and current Rhode Island regulations.
