Employee Misclassification, When is it Wage Theft?

This presentation will look at the Rhode Island Payment of Wages Act, which will become effective on January 1, 2024, and outline the criminal consequences for any "knowing and willful" wage and hour infractions. It will further discuss the Act's liability to employers, the penalties as stipulated by the Act, the Department of Labor and Training's jurisdiction over the Act, and how employers can best avoid any liability.
